A new era of shower drains has begun
The QuARTz shower drains have one distinctive advantage that you may not even notice: it is unobtrusive but noticeable as a well-designed and unique bathroom fixture. Gone forever is the center-hole round shower drain. Center-hole drains are old fashioned with an outdated look and they don't ever need to be part of your fixture consideration again.
Shower installations become much easier with QuARTz
The QuARTz shower drains have changed the way showers are installed. The new design and great new look have also opened up ways of arranging and installing showers. The linear design is made to fit with tile. No longer do we have to make complicated adjustments to laying the tile just to accommodate a piece of plumbing. Now, the shower drains work with the tile and actually become a natural part of the floor in the shower or other wet zone environment. Even the installation of poured shower pans has changed. See on our website how simple it is to install the QuARTz shower drain.
Installation is simple
The channel and grate of the QuARTz shower drains are sized with tile in mind. Installation does not require any special cutting or adjusting of tiles which is a great relief. The drain itself has a very high flow capacity so it can be used anywhere in the layout. One especially nice way to use it is as a threshold which ends the wet zone and keeps the wet from the dry zone without having to have a door or half-wall as would normally be needed in a shower.
When it is time to clean, that is equally simple. The custom grate is removable—even if the custom insert is tile—which provides easy access to the drain pan area for cleaning. Standard household cleaners or soap is all that is required, such as used on any stainless steel appliance. You can use a soft cloth to dry and buff the surface.
Elegant enough for home applications; efficient enough for commercial ones
Not only do QuARTz shower drains offer great style, elegance and functionality to the home, they are equally better choices in commercial applications such as spas and hospitals. The fact that you can join together the varying lengths available means that you can create wet zone barriers of any length around an area. Each drain can easily handle 7 gallons per minute which is enough to keep up with any shower.
Two finishes available
The body and grates are made from grade 304 austenitic stainless steel. Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and does not attract magnetic particles that can encourage both bacterial growth and corrosion. The electro-polished finish on the stainless steel brings about an extremely smooth, high-luster finish that makes an attractive and aesthetically-pleasing appearance.
The other finish available is the oil-rubbed bronze finish designed to provide the more rustic, European look of bronze. The oil rubbed bronze finish is actually a chemical process that darkens the surface to simulate aged bronze. The base material is still grade 304 austenitic stainless steel.
The placement of a traditional drain is dictated by the slope of the floor, usually toward the center of the room. Careful grading has to be done so the water will run the right direction, and then careful tiling has to be done to cut the tile around the circular drain and that rarely works out well the first time.
QuARTz drains make it so much easier. There are actually four main choices for placement of the drain and the choice is primarily because of visual preference or the position of the other plumbing. You can place the drain:
- Against the wall
- At the threshold
- In the center
- Multiple sites, i.e. opposite walls or entry-exit (walkthrough) threshold positions.
It was once true that every fixture in the kitchen or bathroom has been influenced by new designs, styles, uniqueness or novelty—except the shower drain. Finally, a shower drain can be stylish and coordinate with the other metallic surfaces in a bathroom, changing forever how we think about placing and using drains in the future.
